Dento-legal experts share knowledge at study day

Dental Protection is hosting a brand new study day which explores the areas of ever-changing interface between clinical dentistry, the many areas of law which impact upon the business and practise of dentistry.

This is a perfect opportunity for anyone interested in pursuing a dento-legal career, and a timely update for those already involved in the field.

The experts who will be presenting at the event have worked within the dento-legal field for many years and will cover topics including; how legal decisions in one country can help us to anticipate and prepare for possible challenges in another. How issues of ethics and professional conduct can complicate the management of complaints and GDC claims. The law of negligence, changes to expert witness immunity, and outline Lord Justice Jackson's review recommendations and explore what this might mean for the dental claims environment.

The amount of regulation and scrutiny in dental practice has grown considerably in the last decade. In addition, the economic situation and no-win, no-fee legal system has increased claims against dentists throughout England and Wales.

Experts will also describe how they are instructed as an expert witness either by the prosecution or the defence.
