Uninsured Dentist still gave treatment
A Dentist treated a series of patients while not covered by any form of professional insurance, a hearing was told.
Ann Warfvinge is said to have flouted the rules while working at the Somercotes Dental Practice, Alfreton, between 2005 and 2006.
She was not covered when a patient complained about the standard of her work, the General Dental Council heard.
Katie Scott, for the council, told a hearing yesterday: "This case relates to whether or not the respondent gave treatment to the complainant and or other patients.
"It also relates to whether during that time, 2005 and 2006, she had the benefit of professional indemnity insurance, and whether or not she provided details of that insurance to the complainant and the GDC when requested."
Professional regulations state dentists must take out insurance to make amends when things go wrong.
But at times she was not insured and did not provide details of when her policy was live when asked to by her professional body, it is claimed.
The hearing continues.
