Doctor Who lookalike dentist puts kids at ease

Children who dread the dentist will be seen - by The Doctor.

But it's not Dr Who David Tennant emerging from a Tradis, it's his lookalike Dr Keith Hooper.

Dr Hooper, 32, works at practices in Dundee and the Perthshire towns of Auchterarder and Comrie.

But he also loves dressing up as the Time Lord - and it helps calm the fears of kids who end up in the dreaded dentist's chair.

He said: "I must admit I lay it on for the kids when I have to and they are convinced I'm the great man.

"The biggest advantage is that I don't have to ask them to open their mouths - their jaws drop to the floor when they see me and remain there until I'm finished with them."

He admits not always filling them in on his real identity, adding: "Some kids are convinced I'm Doctor Who and the parents are only too glad to play along. I do feel a little bit guilty when they are sitting stock-still in the chair and I summon the Daleks.
